Moving Ice, Svalbard, Norway, 2020
Category - Polar Wonders
Seen from above, there’s something mesmerizing about the movements of ice at sea: it is constantly breaking up and reforming, moving with the sea currents, always changing, never repeating the exact same shapes and patterns. Here, for a few moments, off the coast of Svalbard, Norway, it happened to form a heart, just as my drone passed above it. A symbolic but fleeting image – just a few minutes later, it had disappeared – that reminds us that beauty can be found everywhere and always, even in the harshest conditions.
