The Polar Fox in the Artic Winter, 2020
Svalbard, Norway
Category - Polar Wonders
The Arctic fox, sometimes called the Arctic fox, is commonly found in Spitsbergen, although it has been hunted for over two centuries. This picture was taken on a spring day when a freezing blizzard was blowing. In order to find food in all seasons, the fox has to cope with the extreme conditions of the Arctic. But its small size - it is smaller than the red fox - and its thick fur, which is as insulating as that of the bear, enable it to withstand the extreme cold of the Arctic.
