The Deccan Banded Gecko (Cyrtodactylus deccanensis) is an endemic species of the Western Ghats in India. I photographed this banded ground gecko in the Amboli rainforest on a drizzly evening. As I was wandering around looking for subjects to photograph during the monsoon, I came across this elegant nocturnal creature. It was perched on a mossy rock. Another gecko was in the crack of a wall near a tree. These insectivorous animals are about 15 centimetres long and seek warm and humid temperatures.
