New Danger to Underwater Life Covid-19 Waste, 2020
Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey
Category - Humanity versus Nature

According to a report prepared by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), plastic waste equivalent to 33,880 plastic bottles is being mixed into the Mediterranean per minute. Italy and then Turkey are among the countries on whose shores the most plastic waste washes up. Medical waste resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic has reached the seas and oceans due to human negligence. While plastic and general waste pose a great danger to marine ecosystems, “medical waste” is adding to the list, further exacerbating the problem and making environmental pollution more and more irreversible.
