Panos Laskarakis
Macro World!, 2020

Category - Beneath the Canopy
In the forest, a discreet life thrives and reveals another world, both fragile and spectacular. I spotted these mushrooms on the root surface of a huge oak tree in the early morning, when the activity of underground life is so intense. For this type of macro photography, you must stand still for several hours, and in this case in a muddy ground, which is the best place for tiny mushrooms to grow fast. As the centipede passes through this miniature forest, it gives the scene an unprecedented dimension, that of a real little wild world. Surely one of my best experiences.
