Kathleen Ricker
Wildlife photographer and laureate of the “PA2F Environmental Photographer of the Year 2021” Award
From a young age, Kathleen Ricker always knew she wanted to spend her life surrounded by wildlife. In 2013, Kathleen began her expeditions around the world to observe and photograph wildlife in its natural habitat: polar bears in the Canadian Arctic, orangutans in the jungles of Borneo, penguins in South Georgia, a dive with orcas in Norway or a trek with gorillas in Uganda. On her first trip to Bwindi National Park, Kathleen fell in love with the mountain gorillas and has since participated in 14 treks with them. Through her photographs, she shows how close the interactions between wild animals are to human interactions. It is by capturing these emotions that she tells her stories. Kathleen has also photographed weddings and honeymoons around the world, including Antarctica and a safari in Kenya. In 2021, she won the “Environmental Photography Award” of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
