In Indonesia and Malaysia, it appears that young orangutans are taken away from their mother, usually killed by the poachers, in order to sell them as pets in the black market. It is totally prohibited to own a wild animal, but for some people it is an indication of wealth. The local authorities are fighting against this traffic and when they rescue young orangutan such as this one, they bring it to a quarantine and care center, which will try to rehabilitate them.
