The powerful beginning of the seventh eruptive episode of the 2023–2025 eruption of Svartsengi volcanic system, on 21 November 2024. As with the previous events, the eruption began with a several-kilometer-long fissure producing massive lava flows. In this case, a 2.5 km lava flow is developing from a 4 km eruptive fissure visible in the background. The effusion rate for this event was estimated at around 1,500 cubic meters per second, driving rapid lava advance during the first hours.
